Geven maakt gelukkig

Happiness experts say giving back to others is one of the best ways to be happier and find inner peace.

Taking that to heart, a 32-year-old Chicago area man gave away everything in his home, except for his bed and some personal items, to strangers for free.

Brian Bagnall, who authored a book on being happy, is moving to an already furnished home in Virginia where his girlfriend lives. In an effort to quietly oppose the Black Friday shopping madness, they decided to announce their giveaway on Craiglist.

Bagnall asked that people refrain from shoving, swarming, yelling, running, or anything else mean-spirited. As the ad said, "This isn't Walmart."

The morning after Black Friday, around 50 people were waiting on the car-lined street for Bagnall to open his doors. In total, 200 people came and within a few hours, his 3-bedroom ranch had been cleared out.

Bagnall roamed around and spoke with the visitors as they took furniture, tools, glassware, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, wall shelves, and even food out of his freezer.

As he saw less and less of his possessions around him, Bagnall said, "I just kinda realized, it's just stuff."
